New Order

NEW ORDER

New Order é uma banda inglesa de Rock e Música Eletrônica formada em Manchester no ano de 1980 por Bernard Sumner (vocais, guitarra e sintetizadores), Peter Hook (baixo e sintetizadores) e Stephen Morris (bateria, bateria eletrônica e sintetizadores). New Order foi formado pelos membros remanescentes do grupo Joy Division, após o suicídio do vocalista Ian Curtis, com a adição de tecladista/guitarrista Gillian Gilbert.
Embora as primeiras gravações do New Order soam muito parecidas com o Joy Division, em 1981 com o single "Everything's Gone Green", a banda desenvolveu sua sonoridade característica, que é descrita como uma síntese equilibrada entre pós-punk e experimentalismo com dance music eletrônica. O New Order é uma das bandas pioneiras da dance music eletrônica e foi a primeira banda a unir esse estilo musical com o rock, assim criando um novo estilo musical, que é conhecido como Dance Rock.
A banda ja vendeu mais de 20 milhões de álbuns. Seu maior hit, Blue Monday, é o single de 12 polegadas mais vendido de todos os tempos, tendo vendido mais de 3 milhões de cópias. Tanto por sua música quanto por sua própria casa noturna inaugurada em 1982, The Haçienda, o New Order é um dos nomes mais influentes e revolucionários de todos os tempos no rock e na música eletrônica.
Em 2005, o New Order ganhou o prêmio 'Godlike Genius' (pelo conjunto da obra) da NME Awards e foi incluído junto ao Joy Division no UK Music Hall of Fame. Inúmeros artistas admitem terem muita influência de New Order, como por exemplo: Pet Shop Boys, Moby, Chemical Brothers, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Massive Attack, Kylie Minogue, Primal Scream e The Killers.
O New Order entrou em hiato entre 1993 e 1998, período o qual os membros participaram de vários projetos paralelos. A banda se reuniu em 1998, e em 2001 lançou Get Ready, seu primeiro álbum em oito anos. Em 2001, Phil Cunningham (guitarra, sintetizadores) substituiu Gilbert, que havia abandonado o grupo devido a compromissos familiares. Em 2007, Peter Hook deixou a banda devido a desentendimentos com Bernard e Stephen, assim o New Order novamente entrou em hiato. Em 2011 a banda retornou a ativa, com Gilbert de volta e Tom Chapman substituindo Hook no baixo.

The Rolling Stones é uma banda de rock inglesa formada em 25 de maio de 1962, e é uma das bandas mais antigas ainda em atividade. Ao lado dos Beatles, foram considerados a banda mais importante da chamada Invasão Britânica ocorrida nos anos 1960, que adicionou diversos artistas ingleses nas paradas norte-americanas e que decisivamente influenciaram na música pop e nos costumes.
Formado por Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman e Charlie Watts, o grupo calcava sua sonoridade no blues. Em cinquenta anos de carreira, sucessos como "Paint It, Black", "Lady Jane", "Ruby Tuesday", "Wild Horses", "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", "Start Me Up", "Sympathy For The Devil", "Jumping Jack Flash", "Miss You" e "Angie" fizeram dos Stones uma das mais conhecidas bandas do rock mundial, levando-a a enfrentar todos os grandes clichês do gênero, desde recepções efusivas da crítica até problemas com drogas e conflito de egos, principalmente entre Jagger e Richards. Black Label Society

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY

A banda teve início em maio de 1998, quando Zakk Wylde, ex-guitarrista de Ozzy Osbourne, chama Phil Ondich para tocar com ele em um concerto solo na Itália. Nick Catanese, amigo de Zakk Wylde, recomenda Phil para o cargo de baterista.
Zakk e Phil decidiram chamar a banda de "Hell's Kitchen" (bairro de periferia de Nova Iorque) e o seu primeiro álbum de "Sonic Brewery". Entretanto, por não conseguirem uma marca registrada para "Hell's Kitchen", tiveram que trocar o nome da banda para Black Label Society. O nome do primeiro álbum foi mudado para "Sonic Brew".

BILLY IDOL

Billy Idol, nome artístico de William Albert Michael Broad, (Middlesex, 30 de novembro de 1955) é um músico britânico.
Teve a ideia de se autodenominar Billy Idol devido aos desenhos animados Sport Billy dos quais era um acérrimo fã (daí o Idol). Começou a sua carreira levando para os concertos uma mala igual à dos desenhos animados dos quais era fã.

TEARS FOR FEARS

O Tears for Fears é uma dupla de rock surgida nos anos 1980, formada por Roland Orzabal (voz e guitarra) e Curt Smith (voz e baixo). As músicas da dupla foram principalmente criadas por Orzabal, que no início se baseava na teoria do Grito Primal, do psicanalista Arthur Janov, que deu origem ao nome do grupo.
O grupo se destacou pela versatilidade de temas usados em suas canções, pelo detalhismo e pela vigorosa utilização do sintetizador. Venderam mais de vinte milhões de discos e obtiveram vários discos de ouro e de platina.
Vindos do grupo de ska Graduate (dissolvida no início da década de 80) o grupo lança, contando com a participação de Ian Stanley nos teclados e Manny Elias na bateria, o álbum The Hurting (1983), onde apresentam uma música mais orientada pelo estilo techno e até mesmo gótico, e onde se encontra com mais vigor a teoria do Grito Primal. Contudo, o álbum de maior sucesso e considerado a obra máxima do grupo é Songs from the Big Chair (1985). O disco viria a vender mais de 10 milhões de cópias, e sucessos como "Everybody Wants to Rule The World" e "Shout" (ambas atingindo o 1º lugar nas paradas americanas) e "Head Over Heels" (3º lugar). O grupo sairia em turnê para só depois de quatro anos lançarem outro disco, mais pop (e sem a influencia psicanalista vista no início) ainda do que os anteriores, chamado Seeds of Love (1989). Hits como "Sowing the Seeds of Love", "Advice for the Young at Heart" e principalmente a balada "Woman in Chains" (lançando a cantora Oleta Adams, antes desconhecida) atingem as paradas.
Este trabalho, considerado por muitos fãs como o melhor, traz elementos jazzísticos e soul, clara influencia de Oleta Adams, sobretudo nas canções "Badman's Song" e "Standing on the Corner of the Third World", encorpando e amadurecendo o bom trabalho feito no disco anterior, Songs from the Big Chair.
Devido a divergências crescentes entre Roland e Curt, com relação ao andamento do grupo, e como cada vez Curt participa menos na composição e nos vocais, a dupla se separa e, através de uma decisão judicial, Roland pode seguir com o nome da dupla. Logo após, é lançada a coletânea Laid so low Tears Roll Down (Greatest Hits 1982-1992). Pelo Tears for Fears, Roland lança em 1993 o álbum Elemental, que ainda conseguiu relativo sucesso com "Break it Down Again", e Curt lança em carreira solo o fracassado Soul on Board. Seguem-se ainda Raoul and the Kings of Spain (1995, por Orzabal, ainda mantendo o nome Tears for Fears) e Saturnine Martial & Lunatic em 1996. Com as fracas vendas do último disco, Roland lança em carreira solo o disco Tomcats screaming outside, em 2001. A dupla se reencontra em 2003 com a intenção de obter novamente o sucesso, com o álbum Everybody Loves a Happy Ending.
