JANIS JOPLIN

Janis Lyn Joplin (Port Arthur, 19 de Janeiro de 1943 — Los Angeles, 4 de Outubro de 1970) foi uma cantora e compositora norte-americana. Considerada a "Rainha do Rock and Roll", "a maior cantora de rock dos anos 60" e "a maior cantora de blues e soul da sua geração", ela alcançou proeminência no fim dos anos 60 como vocalista da Big Brother and the Holding Company e, posteriormente, como artista solo, acompanhada de suas bandas de suporte, a Kozmic Blues e a Full Tilt Boogie.

Influenciada por grandes nomes do jazz e do blues como Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Tina Turner, Big Mama Thornton, Odetta, Leadbelly e Bessie Smith, Janis fez de sua voz a sua característica mais marcante, tornando-se um dos ícones do rock psicodélico e dos anos 60.Todavia, problemas com drogas e álcool encurtaram sua carreira. Morta em 1970 devido à uma overdose de heroína, Janis lançou apenas quatro álbuns: Big Brother and the Holding Company (1967), Cheap Thrills (1968), I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama! (1969) e o póstumo Pearl (1971), o último com participação direta da cantora.

Pink Floyd

PINK FLOYD

Pink Floyd foi uma banda de rock britânica formada em Cambridge, Inglaterra, em 1965, que atingiu sucesso internacional com sua música psicodélica e progressiva. Seu trabalho foi marcado pelo uso de letras filosóficas, experimentações musicais, capas de álbuns inovativas e shows elaborados. O Pink Floyd é um dos grupos de rock mais influentes e comercialmente bem-sucedidos da história, tendo vendido mais de 200 milhões de álbuns ao redor do mundo. A banda foi induzida ao Hall da Fama do Rock and Roll em 1996.

A banda, originalmente, consistiu dos estudantes Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright e Syd Barrett. Fundado em 1965, eles, inicialmente, tornaram-se populares tocando no cenário underground londrino, no fim dos anos 60. Sob a liderança de Barrett, lançaram dois singles ("Arnold Layne" e "See Emily Play") e um bem-sucedido álbum de estreia, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, de 1967. O nome Pink Floyd é a abreviação de The Pink Floyd Sound, nome sugerido por Barrett em homenagem a dois músicos de blues admirados por ele: Pink Anderson e Floyd Council.

O guitarrista e vocalista David Gilmour juntou-se à banda em 1968, meses antes da saida de Barrett do grupo, devido ao seu estado de deterioração mental, agravado pelo uso de drogas. Na sequência da perda de seu principal letrista, Roger Waters tornou-se o principal compositor e líder conceitual do grupo, com Gilmour assumindo a guitarra solo e parte dos vocais. Com essa formação o Pink Floyd atingiu o sucesso internacional com álbuns como The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals e The Wall.

Wright deixou o grupo em 1979, e Waters em 1985, mas Gilmour, Mason e, subsequentemente, Wright, continuaram a gravar e se apresentar. Waters processou-os por questões legais relacionadas ao uso do nome "Pink Floyd"; todavia, a disputa foi resolvida com uma decisão que permitiu à Gilmour e Mason que continuassem a usar o nome, ainda livrando Waters de quaisquer obrigações contratuais com a banda. Dois álbuns foram lançados após esse conflito: A Momentary Lapse of Reason e The Division Bell. Após quase duas décadas de amargor entre seus membros, o Pink Floyd se reuniu em 2005 para uma única apresentação, no concerto para a caridade Live 8. Wright morreu em 2008. Os membros restantes — Waters, Gilmour e Mason — reuniram-se novamente, para um show da The Wall Tour de Waters, em 12 de maio de 2011, na O2 Arena, em Londres; Gilmour tocou "Comfortably Numb" com Waters e "Outside the Wall" com Mason e Waters.

Em entrevista concedida ao jornal italiano La Repubblica no dia 3 de fevereiro de 2006, Gilmour indicava o fim do Pink Floyd, declarando que o célebre grupo não produzirá qualquer novo material, nem voltará a reunir-se novamente. No entanto a possibilidade de se fazer uma apresentação similar ao Live 8 não foi descartada tanto por Gilmour ou Mason.

Aerosmith

AEROSMITH

Aerosmith é uma banda norte-americana de rock, por vezes referida como "The Bad Boys from Boston" e "A Maior Banda de Rock and Roll da América". Seu estilo, enraizado em um hard rock baseado no blues, também incorpora elementos do pop, heavy metal e rhythm and blues, e inspirou diversos artistas subsequentes.^[8] A banda foi formada em Boston, Massachusetts, em 1970. O guitarrista Joe Perry e baixista Tom Hamilton, originalmente integrantes de uma banda chamada Jam Band, se encontraram com o vocalista Steven Tyler, o baterista Joey Kramer e o guitarrista Ray Tabano e formaram o Aerosmith. Em 1971, Tabano foi substituído por Brad Whitford, e a banda começou a atrair seguidores em Boston.

Assinaram com a Columbia Records em 1972, e lançaram uma sequência de álbuns multi-platina, começando com seu álbum de estreia homônimo, de 1973, seguido por Get Your Wings, de 1974. Em 1975, a banda estourou no mainstream com Toys in the Attic, e o álbum seguinte, Rocks, de 1976, cimentou o status do Aerosmith como superestrelas do hard rock. EVANESCENCE

Evanescence é uma banda de metal alternativo dos Estados Unidos, vencedora de dois Grammy Awards, formada em Little Rock, Arkansas em 1995 pela cantora e pianista Amy Lee e o guitarrista Ben Moody. Depois de gravar alguns discos caseiros, a banda lançou o seu primeiro álbum de estúdio, Fallen, com a Wind-up Records, em 2003. Fallen vendeu mais de 17 milhões de cópias em todo o mundo e ajudou a banda a ganhar dois Grammy Awards. Um ano mais tarde, a banda lançou o seu primeiro álbum ao vivo, Anywhere but Home, que vendeu mais de 1.5 milhões de cópias em todo o mundo. O segundo álbum de estúdio, The Open Door, de 2006, vendeu mais de 6 milhões de cópias.

A banda sofreu várias alterações ao longo do tempo, incluindo o co-fundador Moody, que abandonou a banda em 2003 em meio a uma turnê européia - deixando assim Amy Lee como a única restante da formação original, que consistia nos dois -, o baixista Will Boyd em meados de 2006, seguido pelo guitarrista John LeCompt e pelo baterista Rocky Gray em 2007.

Atualmente estão finalizando o terceiro álbum de estúdio, entitulado Evanescence, previsto para 11 de outubro de 2011.
