Meat Puppets

MEAT PUPPETS

Sem ser uma das bandas da gravadora SST que elevou a grandiosidade do selo no underground norte-americano durante os anos 80, o Meat Puppets passou a ser, por fim, a mais duradoura banda de sua geração. O grupo nunca teve a disposição que tinham bandas como Hüsker Dü ou Minutemen - duas bandas que integraram o circuito da SST juntamente com o Meat Puppets -, mas foi capaz de trinchar uma longa carreira que outras bandas de hardcore não conseguiram, já que sofria uma inclinação tanto para o tradicional hard rock ou punk. O grupo não apenas tocava de modo agressivo, alto e rápido - também incluia elementos do blues e folk em sua música, de bandas como ZZ Top ou artistas como Neil Young. Com o passar do tempo, a banda amadurecia naturalmente, desenvolvendo e aperfeiçoando técnicas instrumentais e líricas, se movendo claramente ao hard rock tradicional, sempre com bases do punk rock. Entretanto, os puppets nunca abandonaram suas raízes, mesmo ao dar as caras no mainstream, façanha que aconteceu no começo dos anos 90.
