Mad Season

MAD SEASON

Mad Season foi uma banda grunge estado-unidense criada em 1994 como um projeto paralelo de integrantes de outras bandas com base em Seattle e do sub-gênero, o que a conferiu a alcunha de supergrupo grunge.[3] Formada pelo guitarrista Mike McCready do Pearl Jam, o vocalista Layne Staley do Alice in Chains, o baterista Barrett Martin do Screaming Trees e o baixista John Baker Saunders, o grupo fazia um som diversificado a partir de uma mistura entre blues e hard rock.[4]

Audiências alternativas receberam calorosamente o Mad Season durante sua existência. Seu único álbum de estúdio, Above, de 1995, chegou à vigésima-quarta posição na Billboard[5] e ganhou popularidade: um dos singles para o álbum, "River of Deceit", tornou-se um sucesso das rádios e a banda teve mais de 500 mil vendas certificadas somente nos Estados Unidos. Apesar de seu sucesso, o grupo entrou em hiato em 1995. Várias tentativas de reativação foram feitas sem sucesso e o Mad Season por fim teve curta duração, terminando em 1999, com a morte de John Baker Saunders e, em 2002, de Layne Staley.

Korn

KoЯn

Korn (às vezes escrito como KoЯn, para imitar o símbolo da banda) é uma banda de nu metal de Bakersfield, Califórnia, que atualmente assinou contrato com a gravadora Roadrunner records. Frequentemente levam o crédito de ser a banda pioneira do género nu metal e ter inspirado a onda de nu metal, metal alternativo e influenciado bandas de rapcore no meio dos anos 1990 e começo do século XXI, ajudando, em particular, Limp Bizkit (banda que foi descoberta pelos Korn) e junto a eles disseminaram o nu metal no mundo todo.

Desde o lançamento do primeiro álbum Korn em 1994, a banda já vendeu mais de 30 milhões de discos no mundo inteiro (16 milhões só nos Estados Unidos), o que faz com que Korn seja uma das bandas de metal mais bem sucedidas dos últimos 17 anos (1994 - 2010). A banda possui sete álbuns de estúdio consecutivos a atingirem a platina, um álbum de compilações platinado, e dez estreias consecutivas (incluindo o Greatest Hits, Volume 1 e MTV Unplugged) no top 10 do Billboard 200. Até ao momento, os Korn já tiveram 6 nomeações para Grammys, tendo ganho 2. Também tem o maior número de vídeos retirados para um artista de rock/metal na história do MTV Total Request Live - cinco. Atualmente a banda terminou de gravar o 9°album Korn III: Remember Who You Are que já tem data prevista para lançamento dia 13 de julho.
