STONE TEMPLE PILOTS

Stone Temple Pilots (comumente referidos como STP) é uma banda de rock alternativo estado-unidense consistindo de Scott Weiland, dos irmãos Robert e Dean DeLeo, e Eric Kretz. A banda ficou ativa de 1986 a 2003, mas debandou devido a conflitos entre seus membros e reuniu-se em 2008.

Os cinco álbuns de estúdio da banda venderam mais de 17 milhões de cópias somente nos Estados Unidos e aproximadamente 40 milhões no mundo todo. O grupo teve quinze singles no Top 10 das paradas de rock da Billboard, incluindo seis na primeira posição, e um álbum na primeira posição das paradas pop (Purple, de 1994). Em 1993, a banda ganhou um Grammy por "Best Hard Rock Performance" por sua canção "Plush". Stone Temple Pilots também foram classificados na 40ª posição da lista da VH1, Os 100 Maiores Artistas do Hard Rock. Em 2003, após lançar uma compilação de greatest hits chamada Thank You, seus integrantes começaram a seguir caminhos separados. Após o fim em 2003, Weiland se tornou vocalista do Velvet Revolver, com os antigos membros do Guns N' Roses. Os irmãos DeLeo formaram a banda Army of Anyone com Richard Patrick, da banda Filter. Kretz fundou o Bomb Shelter Studios em Los Angeles.

A banda se reuniu em 2008 após Weiland sair do Velvet Revolver, iniciando sua turnê no festival Rock on the Range em Columbus, Ohio, e planeja começar a gravação de seu sexto álbum de estúdio em novembro com edição prevista para 2010.

Mudhoney

MUDHONEY

Mudhoney é uma banda de rock alternativo (relacionada ao rótulo grunge) formada em Seattle em 1988. É "co-irmã" do Pearl Jam, já que dois de seus integrantes, Mark Arm e Steve Turner, foram companheiros de Jeff Ament e Stone Gossard no Green River, considerada por muitos como a primeira banda de grunge, criada em 1984.

Apesar de ser reconhecida como uma das fundadoras do primeiro grande movimento do rock nos anos 1990, a banda é muito menos bem sucedida comercialmente do que o Pearl Jam e o Nirvana, já que a escolha dos integrantes do Mudhoney sempre foi se afastar dos holofotes e das tendências dominantes.

Entre 22 de Novembro e 4 de Dezembro de 2005, a banda fez uma turnê pela América do Sul abrindo os concertos de sua 'irmã' mais famosa, para platéias de vinte a quarenta mil pessoas em Santiago do Chile, Buenos Aires, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro e Brasília.

HOLE

Hole foi uma banda norte-americana de rock alternativo, formada em 1989 por Courtney Love e Eric Erlandson e encerrada oficialmente em 2002. Em 2009, a fundadora Courtney Love anunciou a volta da banda.

Banda nativa de Los Angeles liderada por Courtney Love, que decidiu montar sua própria banda aos 25 anos, depois de experiências frustradas como vocalista do Faith No More e do Sugar Baby Doll. O primeiro membro recrutado por Courtney foi o guitarrista Eric Erlandson, que trabalhava na Capitol Records e respondeu a um anúncio que ela havia colocado em revistas de rock, dizendo: "Quero formar uma banda. Minhas influências são Big Black, Sonic Youth e Fleetwood Mac."

A primeira baixista da banda foi Lisa Roberts, vizinha de Courtney, que saiu da banda em pouco tempo e deu lugar a Jill Emery. A baterista era Caroline Rue. O nome da banda tem origens anacrônicas. Há quem diga que é pela conotação sexual de "buraco" (Courtney era stripper na época), outras fontes afirmam que vem de uma linha da tragédia grega "Medéia", de Eurípedes, e ainda há relatos de que, na verdade, a origem é de uma frase da mãe de Courtney, a psicóloga Linda Carroll, que teria dito para sua filha que ela "não poderia carregar um BURACO dentro de si para sempre".

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

Queens of the Stone Age (também conhecidos pelo acrônimo QotSA) é uma banda estadounidense de hard rock formada em Palm Desert, Califórnia em 1997.

Antes do surgimento do Queens of the Stone Age, existia uma banda californiana chamada Kyuss que, após ser apadrinhada pelo produtor Chris Goss, partiu do completo anonimato para tornar-se ícone cult da cena heavy metal americana, chegando inclusive a figurar como o principal expoente do sub-gênero stoner rock.

Muitos talentos fizeram parte da formação do Kyuss durante sua existência. Entre eles estavam: Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, John Garcia e Alfredo Hernandez.

No entanto, apesar da popularidade o Kyuss se dissolveu em 1995 e o líder e guitarrista Josh Homme mudou-se para Seattle.

Em Seattle, Josh ingressou no Screaming Trees como segundo guitarrista durante a turnê do álbum Dust de 1996, tendo inclusive participado do festival Lollapalooza em sua última edição com o Trees, tocando ao lado de bandas como Soundgarden e Metallica.

A partir de 1997, com as atividades do Screaming Trees se tornando cada vez mais esparsas, Josh encontra tempo suficiente para trabalhar em um projeto próprio. Foi o início da série Desert Sessions, projeto que permitiu a ele se expressar com maior liberdade e experimentalismo. Logo em seguida, Josh resolve montar outra banda, o Queens of the Stone Age.
